INITIAL SET UP & PAIRING
Quick Start Version: Powering ON your earbuds for the first time

To power PUSH 540 OPEN ON for the first time, remove the stickers covering the charging points on both buds.

Place the earbuds in the charging case. When both LEDs show blue, remove them from the case.

Your earbuds will automatically turn on when the buds are taken out of the case.
Quick start Pairing

Your PUSH 540 0PEN ear buds will automatically enter pairing mode when powered on for the first time.

A tone will indicate that your earbuds have powered ON and a voice prompt will then say “pairing” and the LEDs will flash blue.

To connect ear buds to your device, simply open the Bluetooth settings on your device, find and select “PUSH 540 OPEN” in your list of available devices.

With Google fast pair, Android devices will automatically pull up a pairing screen. Just click connect and you are paired.

A voice prompt will say “Connected” and the ear bud LED’s will flash blue three times to indicate a successful Bluetooth connection.
Multipoint pairing: pairing to a second new device after first time pairing, while earbuds are powered on and connected
This feature makes it possible to pair your earbuds with two devices at once. For example, while watching videos on your laptop, you can take a call on your phone without the hassle of disconnecting from one device to pair with another. The connection is managed automatically, so you won’t need to do anything after you are paired to both devices.

To connect a second device, enter pairing mode by pressing and holding the Skullcandy multi-function button on either ear bud for 3 seconds

A voice prompt will say “Pairing” and the LED’s on the ear buds will pulse blue to indicate you are in pairing mode.

Open the Bluetooth settings on your second device, find and select “PUSH 540 OPEN” in your list of available devices.

You are now connected to both devices.
Your PUSH 540 OPENS will automatically pair to the two most recently paired devices every time they are powered on. If you’d prefer to only pair to one device at a time, you can go into the Skullcandy App and turn OFF Multipoint Pairing.

To unlock your ear buds advanced features, download the Skullcandy app. Once you have paired your earbuds to your device, open the Skullcandy app and it will automatically link to your earbuds.

CLEAR VOICE SMART MIC
PUSH 540 OPEN is equipped with Clear Voice Smart Mic. It uses artificial intelligence to isolate the speaker’s voice and reduce background noise.
Clear Voice Smart Mic is especially effective at eliminating discontinuous noise, the kind of background chatter you’d find in a crowded coffee shop or airport.
CUSTOMIZE BUTTON FUNCTIONS
You can personalize your earbuds through the Skullcandy App by customizing your controls.
Some default and unassigned button settings can be reconfigured through the Skullcandy App using the earbud’s Multi Function Button (MFB).
Here are the custom button functions that you can configure to your preferred control settings.

Who do you ask for help? Siri? Bixby? Google assistant? Unlike proprietary earbuds, Skullcandy earbuds work with any assistant.

PRESET EQ + CUSTOM 5-BAND EQ
To help you get the best sound quality from your content, your earbuds also feature preset EQ Modes for music, bass boost, and podcast - as well as a 5-band Customizable EQ Mode.

Music mode is your Default EQ setting, which is great for general listening.

Bass boost mode increases the low frequencies for a bass-heavy audio experience.

Podcast mode removes most of the bass response and is great for podcasts or audio books.

Custom EQ mode can be customized in the Skullcandy app your personal
To switch between EQ Modes, go into the Skullcandy App and select your preferred audio setting.
A voice prompt will notify you each time your EQ mode changes.
CHARGING

PUSH 540 OPEN holds up to 10 hours of play on a single charge and an additional 32 hours in the case for 42 hours total.

A voice prompt will say “battery is just about dead” when your ear buds have about 45 minutes to 1 hour of play time remaining, and you will get a second notification when your ear buds have about 15 to 25 minutes of play time remaining.

To charge your earbuds, place them in the charging case, The LED’s on your ear buds will indicate the battery level when placed into the charging case.

To check the case battery life, plug the case into a power source. The single LED located next to the USB-C charging port will light up and indicate the current battery level.

Your PUSH 540 OPEN ear bud LED’s and charge case LED will indicate battery life with the following colors and sequences.

Pulsing Amber = 0%-40%

To get the best fit, place the hanger over your ear so the acoustic driver sits just outside your ear canal and the main housing rests comfortably behind your ear. Adjust the hanger position slightly up or down to find the most comfortable and stable fit.

When you’re not using it, the neckband can be stored in the case. You can also clip it to a belt loop or bag as a lanyard or even wear it as a bracelet on its own. Easy to carry, easy to keep track of.
SOLO AND STEREO MODE
You can use either earbud by itself to stay tuned-in to the world around you, We call this solo mode.

To use solo mode, simply remove either earbud from the charging case. Your selected earbud will pair and function normally.

To use both earbuds again, remove the other bud from the case, and once powered ON, audio will begin to stream automatically in stereo mode.
ADD NEW FEATURES AND UPGRADES AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SKULLCANDY APP
Instead of buying new earbuds for the latest features, your Skullcandy App-enabled earbuds allow you to add new features as they’re developed.
Over time, we’ll continue to add new features all delivered through firmware updates via the Skullcandy App.
It is very important to always be sure your earbuds are updated to the latest firmware release to ensure the best performance and user experience, so please don’t forget to take this time to improve your product with the most up-to-date upgrades and features.
HOW IT WORKS

Occasionally, you’ll receive notifications through the Skullcandy App that your product is ready for a firmware update.
-
FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) updates will be prompted on the home page of your linked product, and you will simply press the “Update” button for more detailed information before getting started with your upgrade.

After reviewing the firmware improvements and or feature upgrades, swipe forward and get ready to begin your update. This will take about 5-10 minutes, and please note that both earbuds will need to have a battery capacity over 25% to begin.

Once you’ve pressed the “Start the update” button, be sure to maintain constant WIFI or cellular service, keep your earbuds and device powered on and close together to maintain the Bluetooth connection, and do not exit the Skullcandy App (this can update in the background, but the app must continue running).

Once the update process has finished, you will be notified that your firmware update was successfully completed.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you’re having difficulties pairing a device, you can reset PUSH 540 OPEN by clearing the paired device list.

First, remove your earbuds from your device’s Bluetooth paired list and turn Bluetooth OFF.
-
Power your earbuds ON.
-
Press and hold the Multi-Function Button on either ear bud for 6 seconds.
-
A tone will indicate a successful reset, and the earbud LEDs will quickly flash BLUE and YELLOW.

A voice prompt will say “Ready to Pair” and the earbud LEDs will pulse BLUE
-
Now, turn on your device’s Bluetooth and select PUSH 540 OPEN.
-
Accept the “Pair” or “OK” prompt that appears on your screen.

When pairing is complete, a voice prompt will say “connected.”

NEW FEATURES AND SKULLCANDY APP
Please note that the Skullcandy App will only be supported on your mobile devices, and will not have app support with your PC, iPad and MacBook.
Additionally, always be sure that you have updated your earbuds to the latest firmware release to enjoy the best performance upgrades, user experience, and the latest new features.
I’m having trouble linking my earbuds to the Skullcandy App , what should I do?

When first opening the Skullcandy App you will need to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy ensuring that Skullcandy will keep the very limited data necessary to link private and secure.

You will want to make sure the device Bluetooth is enabled, and your earbuds are powered on and paired to your device.
-
At this time the Skullcandy App will search for available devices and once found, an image of your earbuds will appear. Simply press “Connect” and you should be linked and ready to go. (Please also note, if you’re in a crowded space, be sure the app isn’t attempting to link to another Skullcandy product nearby.)

If your Skullcandy App is unable to search and link with your earbuds, simply try to close/exit and re-open the Skullcandy App. If this doesn’t seem to be working, close/exit your Skullcandy App, go to your Bluetooth settings on your device and turn Bluetooth off and back on again (this will unpair and pair your earbuds with your device), and then re-open the Skullcandy App. Your earbuds should link with the app at this time.
I’ve attempted to complete the firmware update in the app, but the download failed…what can I do?

Please make sure that your earbuds remain powered on, connected to Bluetooth and your device, and linked with the Skullcandy App.

Please make sure that your device remains powered on, paired to your earbuds, and maintains constant WIFI or cellular service.

Please make sure your earbuds are charged with more than 25% battery to complete the upgrades.
How easy is it to customize my earbuds controls?

This is done very easily through the Skullcandy App, where you can independently customize the actions on each of the buttons available.
Can I customize all earbuds functions?

No, you won’t be able to change all functions, but most media controls are available to customize.
Will my custom button actions/functions be saved even if I power Off/restart my device?

Yes, once your controls are customized in the Skullcandy App they will be saved until you make changes.
If I get a new phone and need to re-download the app, will my controls be saved?

No, you will need to re-link to the Skullcandy App and customize your earbuds again.
If I switch devices from my phone that has linked to the app to a device that does not have the Skullcandy App , do my customized button functions still work?

Yes, your custom UI controls will be saved but you will not have the Skullcandy App features, example custom EQ.
